Now, what is the W2H and how can it change my life as a student in Higher Education. Simple, ask yourself these 3 Questions
Q 1 – WHAT you want?
Q 2 – WHY you want it?
Q 3 – How are you going to get it?
Let me detail it out,
Q 1 – WHAT you want? – Its very important for one to know what he or she wants, post education. Is it a good job or a dream job. Now, how does one define good job, so comes the working hour, work-life balance and of course good salary, now when i say good salary what it should be? So, the What includes measurable units, something like, i am looking for a Job in top 10 companies in India (or world) in the area of AI or Data Science or ecommerce where I get a starting salary of Rs.600,000 per month or I should be getting 50k per month in hand. So, the more clear are your thoughts, the better it is to get what you want. Else you will feel that you are not getting what you want from life.
Q 2 – WHY you want it? – once you define what you want, you should have a reason for WHY you want it? Is it just because ABC got a so and so salary so I should get or because my friends friend got this much salary so I should be getting it or there is something more to it. You have to find out Why?
Note: Please do this exercise with your friend or gf/ bf or parents as clarity in thoughts is must and you can send me your dilemma or concerns and I will try to help you out.
Q 3 – How are you going to get it? – Now, this will define your course of action – the KARMA. Should I skill my self up with new technologies if yes, how much can I afford or better how much can my parents afford? Should I take up an expensive course because that is the in-thing but will I be able to understand it or am I made up for it? You can write down as many questions as you can and this will help you in narrowing down your “How”. Maybe take up some good assessment and try to take simple cheap self paced learning courses so you don’t spend too much money in deciding process.
Note: Your close friend (s) may know your capabilities and limitations and if you trust their judgement and can take criticism, do this exercise with a close friend.
In my next post, I will be talking about – Are you preparing yourself to be under-employed?
